Temmoku trophy cup

Sorry that this photo’s all wonky -I was a little cramped when I took it and didn’t notice at the time.  This one’s on display at my house.  This was in the best firing for Temmoku I had while I was at UGA.  We were firing this ancient, leaky kiln because the other ones were full.  We weren’t even sure it would ever reach temperature.  It eventually did but it took 26 hours (I could reach cone 10 in less than 10 hours in a better kiln).  I think the long, slow saturation of heat is what caused the Temmoku to come out so black and spotless -but I’d hate to see the gas bill from that one.  I was carrying this pot home to keep it safe and I tapped the handle on the edge of a chain-link fence and snapped it off.  I searched in the dark and rain for 20 minutes so I could find the pieces.  I glued it back together and it’s almost seamless.  I think I did it subconsciously on purpose so I could keep it for myself.
